Arizona and Nevada transportation officials are holding a series of meetings for public comment on possible alternatives for planning and building a new interstate highway.
The two states' transportation departments are working on planning for a proposed Interstate 11 which would connect Phoenix and Las Vegas and points beyond in each state.
The public hearings are beginning in Arizona. The first was held Tuesday in Phoenix and they continue Wednesday in Kingman and Thursday in Tucson.
Nevada meetings are scheduled Oct. 16 in Carson City and Oct. 17 in Las Vegas.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says an initial study is to be completed next year but it notes that funding to build I-11 hasn't yet been identified.
