Deputies: Cocaine, pills found during traffic stop

MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said they pulled over a car without insurance and then discovered several pills and crack cocaine.

McDowell County deputies said they stopped the car about 5:30 a.m. along Harmony Grove Road and during a search, they found nearly 0.8 grams of crack cocaine along with a few morphine and oxycodone pills.

Deputies arrested both people who were inside the car.

They said they charged 26-year-old Rex Eversole and 27-year-old Shana McElrath, both of Morganton, with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
