GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville woman said she is hopeful someone has seen her late sister's pet tortoise that got loose.

Nikki Greene told FOX Carolina that her family went on vacation around Labor Day and the tortoise has been missing since.

The pet is named Lucky and is an African spurred tortoise.

She said she thinks people were fishing on their property and left the gate open, allowing Lucky to walk off. Greene said there have been a few sightings of the reptile, but she has not had any luck locating it.

She said hopes to find Lucky because the tortoise was her sister's, who passed away.

Lucky is described as 10 years old and a little bigger than a basketball. He was last seen in the areas of Shannon Drive and John Knox Church, according to Greene's post on the FOX Carolina Lost and Found pets section here.

If anyone sees Lucky, email foxcarolinanews@foxcarolina.com or respond to Greene's post.

Greene is offering a $300 reward for the return of Lucky.
