SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A robbery at an upstate shoe store escalated to a violent ending.

According to Spartanburg police, GB Shoes on East Blackstock Road in Spartanburg was robbed Thursday evening, and they are still working to identify one of the suspects.

The report states employees told officers a woman, later identified as Mesha Banes, and a man entered the store and were acting suspicious.

According to the report, employees told officers they actually saw the man grab some shoes, wallets and possibly other items.

The report states, the woman distracted employees while the man made his way to the front of the store. Then the woman headed that way as well. Employees called authorities and attempted to detain the pair, but a confrontation occurred.

The report states, employees told officers they pulled a $134 pair of sneakers from underneath the man's jacket, and ordered him to return all other merchandise. The man started to return some wallets, but then raced toward the front door and attacked two employees trying to block the entrance.

According to the report, the man hit both female employees and plowed into them in an attempt to get away. The suspect ran out of the store, followed by the woman. The pair got into their vehicle and sped off.

Police said they are still working to identify the male suspect.
