SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two people have been charged after deputies said a baby was brought to the hospital with broken bones and other injuries.

Robert Lee Steadman, 20, was charged with child abuse causing great bodily injury, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

The child's mother, Jordan Finch, 19, charged with neglect of a child or helpless person and giving false information to police, according to jail records.

Deputies said they were called to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center on Oct. 6 in reference to a possibly abused child.

Deputies said the child was crying in pain, had bite marks and had possible fractures.

The child's mother said the injuries were from "rough play" with another child and the child's brother, according to the deputy's report.

According to warrants, Finch told police that no one else was in the house at the time of the incident and she also said that Steadman did not do drugs. Warrants said he did do drugs.
