SEDONA, AZ (CBS5) -

An 80-year-old woman from Sedona was killed by a falling tree while she was on a hike in northern Arizona.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office said Phyllis Lindberg was hiking with four friends in West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon and they stopped for lunch just after 11 a.m. Thursday. She was sitting on a log near the trail when a large conifer tree fell, striking her.

Her friend called 911 for help and the Sedona Fire Department responded and found the victim dead.

A friend in the group had minor injuries.

The incident happened about 2.5 miles from the West Fork Trailhead off Highway 89A.
