Woman walking in Greenville killed by hit-and-run driver

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police said a woman died Thursday night after being hit by a car that fled the scene.

The accident happened at the intersection of Rutherford and Stall streets just before 8 p.m.

One person is in custody at this time, according to police.

An accident reconstruction team was called in to investigate the crash.

Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans identified the woman as 43-year-old Melissa McFalls, of Greenville.

McFalls died at the hospital following the crash.

Police have yet to release any further details about the investigation.
