GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said a moped driver is dead after he was hit by two cars, both of which fled the scene, along Sulphur Springs Road in Greenville County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident happened Saturday night around 10:36 p.m. near the Goodwill store near Pine Grove Lane.

Cpl. Bill Rhyne said the moped driver was hit by a vehicle, ejected from the moped and struck again while lying in the roadway. We're told the driver was not wearing a helmet.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 45-year-old Ricky Stevens. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Monday.

The makes and models of the vehicles are unknown, but troopers said they should have noticeable damage between the center front and right front of the vehicles.
