The stepfather of the man who's body was found in Horsepen Creek on Tybee Island Sunday afternoon says this is the fifth death the family has had to endure this year.
According to Stephen Magune, 31-year-old Charles Daniel Cason's body was found before 4 p.m. behind their house.
Magune and a friend went to look for Cason Saturday night, after he didn't return home from fishing.
"Right after the rain, we figured he'd be coming home so we went and jumped in a friends boat and went down the river and found an empty boat," he said.
Which was Cason's.
Magune wasn't suspicious at first, because thought Cason left the boat to go hang with his friends. But, when he hadn't heard from him on Sunday, Magune and his friend went back out to search for Caseon, and that's when his body was found.
"Sometime after 3. We had found what we didn't want to find," Magune said, "We found him in the marsh, passed away."
Tough loss for Magune, and Cason's mother, especially after dealing with the death of their parents and Magune's sister -- all this year.
Magune says love and remembering the good things about Cason will get them through this loss.
"He was a great fisherman. He just loved the water," he said. "He was a very good person, and hardworker. "
