Report: Women kidnapped, sexually assaulted knew the suspect

SOUTH TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

New information emerges about a South Tucson kidnapping and sexual assault of two women allegedly drugged and held against their will for nearly a week.

Police say the women knew the suspect because they'd previously bought marijuana from him. They thought they were going to El Camino Motel to buy more.

But as soon as they got there, police said the suspect forced them into the room and held them at gunpoint.

Over the next six days, police said the suspect sexually assaulted them, never fed them, and forced them to lay naked in the room as drug clients walked in and out on a regular basis.

"They had marks and bruises, indications they'd been beaten with a curtain rod and probably pistol whipped as well.  What's also troubling is there's indication he was injecting them with heroin." "And so he was probably keeping them sedated to the point of not being able to defend themselves or take care of themselves.">

Renee Franciso Canez faces 11 felony charges, including kidnapping and sexual assault.

He's in jail on a $500,000 bond.
