Researchers at Clemson for fiber symposium

Posted: Updated:

Researchers from around the world are visiting Clemson University this week to talk about different sorts of fibrous materials.

Through Friday, more than 200 researchers are at the Madren Conference Center for The Fiber Society's fall symposium.

The university says participants are taking part in sessions on a variety of topics, including fiber mechanics, physics and chemistry. There is a focus on ways that fibrous materials interact with the broader environment.

Organizers say four parallel sessions over the three-day conference will showcase natural and synthetic organic fibers, biomimetics and bio-inspired materials, inorganic fibers like carbon and glass fibers and surface-functionalized fiber-based materials.
