BURNSVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A small plane crashed as it ran off the runway at a western North Carolina country club Wednesday morning, according to county officials.

A spokesman with Yancey County Emergency Management said the plane was taking off from Mountain Air Country Club's private airstrip when it crashed a few minutes after 10 a.m.

He said the two people onboard the airplane were injured, but the injuries were not considered serious.

The club is located near Burnsville, atop Slickrock Mountain.

The spokesman said the airplane was a Beechcraft Bonanza.
