Two people are dead after an accident on Highway 9 in North Carolina on Wednesday.
The accident happened just south of Black Mountain shortly before 4:30 p.m. near Tree Haven Road.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said one car was getting ready to turn into a driveway when another car that was passing on the highway hit the first car.
The second car then hit a tree, troopers said.
Trooper Brandon Miller with NCHP tells us the driver of the car who was attempting to pass, has been identified as 28-year-old Andreah Hollifield Frost. Her mother, Kathy Hollifield Norton, 51, was in the passenger seat. Both of them died from injuries in the crash. A third passenger, identified as the drivers sister, was taken to the hospital.
Troopers tell us the driver of the second vehicle, Julia Garrion was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers said one of the victims died on the scene and the second died in the hospital.
NCHP is investigating the accident. We're told speed was a factor in the crash.
