No. 13 LSU seeks to work out kinks against Furman

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) -

Les Miles has spent the better part of a week berating himself publicly for LSU's upset loss at Mississippi, which all but eliminated the 13th-ranked Tigers from national title contention.

Miles says he needs to teach better, and his self-improvement undertaking has coincided with the No. 13 Tigers' preparations for Saturday's homecoming game against Furman of the second-tier Football Championship Subdivision.

The game will mark the last of nine straight weeks without a break for LSU (6-2), which wants to go into its first bye week of the season on a high note.

Miles also wants to give top young players more experience against Furman (3-4), a move which could pay dividends as early as next month, when the Tigers meet Southeastern Conference heavyweights Alabama and Texas A&M.
