PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County SWAT Team was called to a hotel in Piedmont early Sunday morning to assist Greenville County deputies with an arrest, according to Lt. Sheila Cole with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.

Cole said Greenville County Deputies had tracked 28-year old Jimmy Cobb, who had several active warrants for his arrest, to a room at the Executive Inn on McNeely Road overnight.

Cole said Anderson County SWAT and a hostage negotiator were called to the hotel around 4:30 a.m. after Greenville County deputies confirmed Cobb was in the room with a woman.

After about an hour of trying unsuccessfully to communicate with the suspect, Cole said SWAT members entered the room and detonated a small device called a "flash bang."

Cole said the devices are used to distract the suspects, so officers can enter while the suspects are caught off guard.

Cobb was arrested without incident, Cole said.

Cobb was taken to the Anderson County Detention Center, where a hold was placed on him pending the charges in Greenville County, Cole said.
