GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville Co. school officials are contacting parents of children who attend Overbrook Child Development Center after an employee there was diagnosed with Legionnaire's disease.

The disease is a severe form of pneumonia that can be spread by breathing in the bacteria. School officials said Tuesday they contacted DHEC and the district's certified industrial hygienist recommended cleaning and disinfecting the school.

Officials said the center will operate normally Wednesday.

Parents are being asked to take their child to a doctor if he or she shows any cold, respiratory or flu-like symptoms.
