TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Border Patrol got a surprise while making a gun bust near Casa Grande.

Border Patrol in Stanfield, Ariz. arrested a driver who agents discovered was transporting five long-arm weapons, ammunition, marijuana and a stolen Border Patrol uniform. The vehicle and belonging were also seized.

The driver was one of many subjects apprehended by the Border Patrol over the past two weeks.

Agents at the Interstate 19 checkpoint arrested two U.S. citizens who attempted to smuggle two Mexican nationals in the trunk of a vehicle, according to a news release. The Border Patrol adds that this smuggling method can be fatal when occupants cannot escape in an emergency.

This week at the Highway 80 checkpoint, the Border Patrol seized a recreational vehicle with more than 500 pounds of marijuana hidden in multiple compartments. The next day, they interdicted a Chrysler van that contained multiple bricks of marijuana in excess of 60 pounds, hidden inside a false roof compartment.

All subjects were processed for prosecution and/or removal proceedings.
