GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Bomb Squad was called to the Gaffney post office on Wednesday for a suspicious package that turned out to only contain study Bibles, according to police.

Gaffney police said they were first called to the post office inside of ACE Hardware on West Buford Street just before noon.

An employee told police a man came inside and dropped off the package, leaving without speaking to her, according to the police report.

Police said it was a brown box with oil-like stains on it and did not have a return to sender address.

The bomb squad responded to examine and remove the box, learning that it only had paperback Bible study books inside, according to police.

The report said the company listed on the box was contacted, but no other information about how the box got there was released.
