Two midtown school lockdowns have been lifted as of 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to police. Today's lockdowns follow seven others that occurred just this fall school year.
The following is a history of K-12 campus lockdowns across Southern Arizona for 2013:
Nov. 8, 2013: Amphitheater Middle
School and Prince Elementary – Reported bomb threat
Two schools in the Amphitheater School District were put on lockdown orders
this morning after a bomb threat was found in a bathroom.
According to Tucson Police, a teacher discovered the threat in a student
bathroom at Amphitheater Middle School, 315 E. Prince Road, and police were
notified. A message was found on the wall of a stall that a bomb on campus
will go off at a certain time today.
Amphi Middle School and Prince Elementary are no longer locked down as of
1:30 p.m., according to the district.
Oct. 23, 2013: Santa Rita High School
– Report of possible weapon
The all-day lockdown happened after someone thought they saw a person
removing a possible weapon from a backpack.
Tucson Police officers and K-9 units searched the entire school for about
five hours, but didn't find any weapons.
Parents expressed their frustration with TUSD about the lack of information
during the lockdown.
Oct. 4, 2013: Sunnyside High School –
Report of student with a gun
According to Mary Veres, the public information officer for the Sunnyside
Unified School District, police found the student who two girls thought had a
gun. The student did not have a gun, Veres said.
Veres said the two girls called 911 and told school personnel.
Tucson Police searched the campus at 1725 E. Bilby Road for the student
identified by the girls, then listed the lockdown.
Oct. 1, 2013: Catalina High School –
Gun recovered, 3 in custody
Police have recovered a gun, Tucson Police Department Sgt. Chris Widmer
Police were called to the area near the school for a report of a young man
with a gun. The man's age was not reported.
According to police, the man allegedly showed the gun to a student and
police later recovered the weapon.
Widmer said it is not clear if the men are students.
Sept. 12, 2013: Amphitheater High School – Lockdown for nearby suspect
Dozens of police vehicles responded to search for man accused of beating his
girlfriend, causing a lockdown at Amphitheater High School.
The lockdown was lifted around 3 p.m. after police used a K-9 unit to find
the male suspect in a nearby shed. He was taken into custody.
Sept. 5, 2013: San Cayetano Elementary, Mountain View School and Rio
Rico High School - Police
search for suspicious man
Three Rio Rico schools were briefly locked down this morning.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, the lockdown was lifted
at three Rio Rico schools after security checks were completed at the schools
and surrounding areas.
A tweet from the Nogales International newspaper said San Cayetano
Elementary, Mountain View School and Rio Rico High School were affected by the
lockdown, which was prompted by a report of a suspicious man.
The Sheriff's Office said no one was found.
Jan. 30, 2013: - Thornydale Elementary School - Campus intruder
In a letter to parents, Thornydale Elementary School principal Sarah Clem
said an administrator saw a man climb over a fence on the north side of the

procedures and called the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
The man was seen leaving the campus at 7651 N. Oldfather and going through
Denny Dunn Park into a desert area. He was never found.
