Police said they have arrested a man they believe robbed a Spartanburg business at knifepoint on Friday, who has also been charged in at least one other crime in Spartanburg County.

According to the Spartanburg Public Safety Department, authorities were able to track down Timothy Earl Vaughan, 49, of Spartanburg.

Police said he went into the Check N Go on East Blackstock Road wielding a knife, demanding money and wearing a green and gold ski mask.

According to the report from Spartanburg Public Safety, a short time after the robbery, they were able to track Vaughan down after getting a tip about a van running red lights, heading away from the city limits.

Officers pulled the van over, and discovered Vaughan inside.

They said no one was injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said Vaughan is the suspect in two crimes that agency is investigating.

Deputies said Vaughan robbed the Li'l Cricket on Chesnee Highway in Chesnee on Wednesday. He's been charged with one count of armed robbery and a weapons offense for that crime, deputies said.

Deputies said Vaughan is also a suspect in the attempted robbery of Advanced Cash America on Beaumont Avenue that took place on Thursday.

Deputies said they will meet with the Solicitor's Office next week to discuss charges in that case.
