A federal judge in New York has tossed rapper DMX's bankruptcy filing, making him fair game for creditors.
The White Plains Journal News reports that a bankruptcy judge dismissed the 42-year-old rapper's July 29 Chapter 11 filing Friday.
The hip-hop star's real name is Earl Simmons. The judge's move means he could lose his possessions including his share in a home in suburban Mount Kisko, N.Y.
Simmons' biggest debt is $1.3 million in child support owed to some of the 10 children he has fathered.
U.S. Trustee Tracy Hope Davis said Simmons failed to provide trustworthy information in his bankruptcy filing.
"Despite this recent obstacle, the team will continue to
move forward with DMX's national performances and we are still working
relentlessly at obtaining his passport for his fan overseas," Simmons' publicist Domenick Nati said in an e-mail Saturday.
Simmons, who currently lives in Spartanburg Co., was arrested Monday in at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport on charges including driving with a suspended license.
