POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

Some good samaritans are being thanked Saturday evening for helping pull a victim from a burning car.

The wreck happened around 7:00 pm, slowing down traffic in the southbound lanes. Pooler Fire says the car veered off the road, hit a tree and caught fire and that's when some passers by stopped to help the victim out of the car, before police had even arrived.

"When we arrived on the scene the vehicle was on fire in the engine department, we immediately started depressing the fire and treating the victim on scene." said wade simmons, pooler fire chief.

Police also responded to another smaller fender bender down the road about 100 feet from the original wreck. There is no word on injuries from either wreck at this time.
