SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are investigating an armed robbery that happened inside Second Presbyterian Church on Monday night.

Police said a man with a gun walked into the church and demanded money from a group of people who were inside taking an anger management class. Police said the gunman pointed the gun right at their faces before running away. We're told he got away with about $500.

According to the police report, two men entered the church and tried to walk past the front desk when the clerk stopped them. They told her they were there for "group" anger management classes.

When she said she did not recognize them, one of the men told her, "You know why we are here, let's not do this." He pulled out a gun and pointed it at her, according to police.

That man then grabbed cash, and the two men ran out of the building, fleeing the scene in car, police said.

Second Presbyterian is located across from Church Street and Wofford College.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Spartanburg police or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372).
