DUE WEST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Erskine College is mourning the loss of student and member of the tennis team, holding a remembrance ceremony for him Tuesday.

The school posted on its Facebook page on behalf of N. Bradley Christie, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Acting President, that sophomore student Dean Harris, from Benoni, South Africa, died in his dorm room Sunday morning.

The school said Harris was a member of the men's tennis team along with his brother Jason, who was also his roommate. According to his profile on the athletics department website, Dean was studying business administration.

According to Christie, leaders of the student government association and student Christian association held an impromptu candlelight vigil. Additionally, Christie said grief counselors are on campus for anyone in need.

A remembrance ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Due West ARP Church.

FOX Carolina is working to contact Abbeville County officials for more information about Harris' death.
