BOSTON (AP) - A Massachusetts lawyer is facing charges for allegedly trying to smuggle pills into a courthouse lockup.
Michael Lustig of Quincy, who specialized in bankruptcy and divorce according to his website, was held on $2,000 bail after pleading not guilty to possession with intent to distribute on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Lustig used his special legal pass to try and smuggle an envelope containing five Suboxone pills to a woman in the Chelsea District Court lockup. Suboxone is usually used to treat opiate addiction, but can be abused.
Lustig reportedly blamed the woman, saying "she made me do it."
His lawyer said he is down on his luck and can't afford bail.
The state agency that oversees lawyers is looking into the case.
