GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A woman was shot in Greenville County on Tuesday evening after she said a man tried to rob her, according to deputies.

Greenville County deputies said a man approached the victim outside of her Holder Lane home and tried to rob her, but she fought back, struggling with him before he shot her and ran away.

Deputies said the woman was shot in the hand and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The woman had kids with her when the shooting occurred, according to officials.

The shooting happened off of Dixie Circle in a mobile home park and was the second shooting in the area in less than two weeks.

Residents in the neighborhood said they are fed up with the violence and are ready to move.

"Been a whole bunch of violence lately. I don't even like for my kids to come out play, none of that. Every time I turn around, blue light," said Carina Williams, a neighbor.

Deputies said the robber was unable to get away with anything, but because it all happened so fast, the victim was unable to get a good look at him.

Deputies set up a perimeter to search for the gunman but did not find him.

Anyone with information on the attempted robbery and shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
