Police: Victim assaulted, robbed of wallet in downtown Clemson

CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police said after days of searching for a man accused of assaulting and robbing someone in downtown Clemson, they have made an arrest in the case.

Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon said the victim was robbed in early in the morning on Friday Nov. 1 in an downtown alley. He said the robber assaulted the victim, robbed them of their wallet and other personal items.

Police were able to identify the suspect and searched for him for days until they spotted him with two other people in downtown on Thursday, Dixon said.

He said the suspect tried to run away but officers were able to catch him.

Demarcus Taylor, 20, was arrested and charged with assault and battery third-degree, petit larceny, two counts of financial transaction card theft, three counts of financial transaction card fraud and providing false information to police. He is being held on a $15,575 surety bond.
