Reese Hannon threw for a career-high 326 yards, Andrej Suttles caught nine passes for 146 yards and the two connected for a score as Furman beat Wofford 27-14 on Saturday to earn a share of the Southern Conference title.
Furman (7-5, 6-2) trailed 14-0, but capitalized on two turnovers by the Terriers (5-6, 4-4) in Wofford territory. Ira McCune recovered a fumble in the second quarter and on the following play Hannon tossed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Suttles, making it 14-7.
After Hank McCloud ran for a 2-yard score to give Furman a 17-14 lead in the third, Nick Miller intercepted a pass on a 4th and 1 play, giving Furman the ball at the Wofford 35. Tanner Skogen ran for a 7-yard touchdown on the ensuing possession to put Furman up 24-14 early in the fourth.
It marked Furman's 13th Southern Conference title, the most in conference history.
