Greenville County deputies said a man who moved into an assisted living home on Monday disappeared from the facility early Tuesday morning before he was found safe.

Deputies said James Carnes, 73, of Greenville has dementia and diabetes. He was last seen at his new home on Southpointe Drive.

According to deputies, Carnes was last seen at 10 a.m. and was reported missing by a relative. Deputies said along with Carnes, his dog and SUV are also missing.

A loved one went to Carnes' old address on North Silver Ridge Road in Greer, driving around looking for him, but they have not been able to locate him, according to investigators.
