GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Harvest Hope Food Bank workers hit the sidelines Wednesday to kick off a massive food drive.

The big event happened at Furman University in Greenville at the start of the Lady Paladins basketball game.

Earlier in November, the organization opened the doors to a new emergency food pantry in Greenville, and at the game volunteers gathered to collect food items and donations for the new pantry.

Organizers said anyone who has an immediate need for food, but no money to pay for it, can come to the new emergency pantry and get immediate help.

Harvest Hope has been serving the upstate since 2007. The non-profit organization works to help hungry people and families by gathering and sharing quality food with compassion, dignity and education.
