SPARTANBURG, SC (AP) -

Students at Converse College are rounding up formal dresses to help fellow classmates in need.

Through Dec. 12, the Converse Student Government Association is accepting formal dress donations for their second annual Peppermint Project. Organizers say the effort is designed to enable students in need to "look as pretty as a peppermint" at the school's Winter Ball.

Last year, the project collected more than 60 gowns from Converse alumnae, friends, faculty, staff and students. Those donations helped 28 students attend the event.

Dresses can be dropped off in the SGA Suite of Converse's Montgomery Student Building.
