PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Old Pelzer Road in Piedmont was shut down Tuesday morning as authorities investigated a fatal single car wreck.

The wreck was reported about 9:30 a.m. at McMahan Road by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the driver was headed east on Old Pelzer Road when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected then hit a tree and overturned.

The Greenville County coroner Parks Evans said Joshua Esquivel, 18, died in the wreck.

Evans said Esquivel was wearing his seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
