The holiday pressure is on, and parties and gift giving, whether you like it or not, are all part of the deal. If you're looking for something local, Kings Nut and Peterson's Nuts are usually a pretty big hit, and they are gearing up for the holiday season.
The Kings Nut production facility in Solon is up and humming for the holidays, employees are working around the clock shifts, churning out all the holiday favorites.
Workers load raw peanuts into a roaster and then ten minutes later those peanuts are ready for the wide variety of ways Kings Nuts and Peterson's serves them up. And the same goes for the roasted cashews and almonds.
"They're very good for you, they're very healthy with a lot of protein and vitamins in them," says company executive Matt Kanan.
The holidays are huge for Kings and Peterson's, their shops in Solon and downtown on Carnegie are big favorites this time of year for people who want to give locally made products as holiday gifts for friends, co-workers and parties.
Kanan says, "We have something from $9.00 gifts up to $150.00 gifts so there's something for everybody."
Big sellers include custom made holiday gift baskets, and the traditional top sellers are the nut tins that go for about thirty bucks. New this year are the premium collection and the classic collection which range in price from $65.00 to a $119.00. Also new is the Keepsake Trunk that will cost you $99.
"We always like to keep things fresh, come out with new ideas to attract new people, new customers to our products," Kanan says.
