GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville man was attacked in his house while in his kitchen the day before Thanksgiving, according to an incident report from the sheriff's office.

Miller Hines, 80, says he was just making a sandwich in the early evening hours when he heard people outside his home. He heard the door start to come open, and when he tried to close it and lock it, two assailants pushed in, he said.

"That door must have hit me at 150 mph," said Hines, who was knocked over when the door pushed open.

Hines said one of the men stood watch outside while the other gave him at least four rounds of beatings to the face and body.

"I can't even blow my nose," said Hines. "It bled for two and I believe a little bit into the third day."

Hines' niece, Donna Cash, rushed to his house when she heard about the assault. She said there was a lot of blood on the kitchen floor. She convinced Hines he needed to go to the hospital to check for internal bleeding.

She said the strange thing about the attack was that they did not steal anything from her uncle.

Greenville County deputies are investigating, but still do not have any suspects. Hines said he may have hired one of the attackers recently to help him with some yard work.

Neighbors in the area said they would like to see more law enforcement presence to prevent incidents like this. Some neighbors have increased security measures at their own homes because they said they seen more crimes in the area.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
