GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies have confirmed that two men are in custody after the Wells Fargo bank on Grove Road was robbed on Wednesday.

Jonathan Smith of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said the alarm call for the robbery came in just before 5 p.m., and when deputies arrived, they saw a man fleeing from the scene.

"Investigators with the sheriff's office received a tip that there might possibly be a bank robbery in the area today. We had deputies and investigators in this area," Smith said.

Smith said they received a tip earlier that said there may be a bank robbery in the area. He said the tip was received through the county's tip line. Lt. Ty Miller said the sheriff's office had deputies and investigators "proactively patrolling the area" based on the tip.

Smith said the man seen fleeing was taken into custody and a second person was also taken into custody. Smith identified the suspects as Artavious Barber, 23, and Joseph Cox, 28.

According to their arrest warrants, Barber was stopped while trying to leave the bank and Cox was waiting in the getaway car when he was arrested. Barber's warrant stated that he passed a handwritten note demanding money and verbally implied he had a gun during the robbery.

According to Miller, no weapons were presented during the robbery and there were no injuries.

Smith Barber and Cox were arrested on charges of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy. According to the county's online jail records, Cox was also charged financial transaction card fraud in connection with an unrelated case.
