Haywood, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged by Haywood County deputies after shots were fired into a car on Tuesday evening, deputies said.

Anthony Scott Price, 26, of Waynesville, is charged with a felony count of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, as well as misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a public officer, and domestic assault on a female, according to Deputy Heidi Warren of the Haywood County Sheriff's Office.

Warren said Price is accused of firing a .40-caliber pistol into a Mazda Protege that was occupied by a 20-year-old man.

She said he is also accused of slapping an 18-year-old woman in the face and resisting arrest, because he hid in the weeds after the incident.

A canine unit was also deployed to search for Price after the incident, according to the arrest report provided by the sheriff's office.
