SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are investigating a crash along John B White Sr. Boulevard that has shut down the busy roadway in both directions.

Police said the road is closed from Briarcliff to Ammons Road and Woodland Street is also closed because of the crash.

A SUV was headed into Spartanburg along John B. White Sr. Boulevard when the driver lost control around the curve at Ammons Road, hit ran into a telephone pole, according to police.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as police said it could take at least three more hours to re-open the road. Officers hope to have normal traffic flowing by 4 p.m.

Drivers are asked to use W.O. Ezell Blvd. as an alternate route.
