SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The sheriff's office is looking to the public for information after several fires at a home and a burglary at a church near Seneca.

Deputies said a home on Ames Street in the Utica Mill Hill area had its first fire on Thanksgiving and it is being investigated as a burglary with an attempted arson. Deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office also said more than $10,000 in property was stolen from the house during the incident.

Officers responded to a second fire at the boarded up home on Sunday, Dec. 8. A representative of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office said the woman who lived at the house is in a "dating relationship" with an officer of the sheriff's office.

Deputies said in a release that there are persons of interest in the incidents and they believe it might be connected to a burglary and vandalism at Ann Hope United Methodist Church on Goddard Avenue.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said more than $9,000 in property was reported stolen from the Ann Hope United Methodist Church on Gouda Avenue. Pastor Jim Morgan said the church was broken into sometime between Nov. 21 and Nov. 23.

Morgan said a leather bag containing headphones and various electrical sound equipment, two LCD projectors, black in color, and a surround sound system were all taken during the burglary.

The church also suffered from $3,000 worth of damage from vandalism during the incident, deputies said.
