Police: Man charged after shooting at Greenville apartment leaves 1 dead

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged with attempted murder after one person was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex Tuesday night, according to the Greenville Police Department.

Greenville police and paramedics were called to the Stonesthrow apartments on Century Circle in Greenville around 10 p.m. where two people were shot.

Greenville police spokesperson Johnathan Bragg said three people came to the door of an apartment and some type of fight broke out involving the apartment resident. He said shots were fired between the resident and people at the door.

The three people tried to run away, but one of them did not make it Bragg said. He said that man died in front of the building. Coroner Parks Evans said he was still working to identify that man.

One of the other two was also shot but was able to get to the hospital for treatment, Bragg said. He said that is the person police were trying to locate Tuesday night with search dogs.

Bragg said the man was driven to the hospital by the third person who fled the complex.

According to warrants provided by the Greenville Police Department, Clint Lewis Wright, 19, has been charged with attempted murder, burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Police have not released any further details about the shooting.

Evans identified the man who died as Denzel Hayden, 21, of Greenville. He said Hayden was shot in the stomach and was identified through finger print comparison.

The other victims' names have not been released.
