GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The dog that was seen being abused in a cell phone video that surfaced on Facebook is now in foster care, the Greenville Police Department announced on their Facebook page on Wednesday.

The police department said the dog has been renamed Sampson and he is in a foster home until he finds a suitable home.

Back in late November, officers said they received a tip about the video posted on the social networking site showing a man punching and kicking a dog several times as the animal wailed in agony.

Greenville police said they charged Steron Jihad Glover with ill treatment of animals and torture after the video surfaced.
