GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Polk County deputies said they have filed charges against two people accused of stealing a car then dumping it in a Greenville County lake.

Polk County Sheriff's Office investigator Brett Hooper said Michael Pace, 27, and Samantha Evans, 24, are charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and felony larceny in the theft of the Infiniti that was dumped in Saluda Lake on Dec. 6.

Hooper said the pair stole the car and a digital camera that was inside the vehicle from a home in Polk County.

Surveillance video from a restaurant along the shore of Lake Saluda shows a car speeding toward the lake and a driver leaping out of the vehicle and running off just before it enters the water.

According to Hooper, Pace and Evans were arrested in Greenville County in connection with an unrelated case.

Pace is also facing other charges relating to parole violations, according to Peter O'Boyle of the South Carolina Probation and Parole Association.

Boyle said warrants were issued for Pace on Oct. 1 for stopping reporting, absconding supervision, failing to pay his monetary obligations, refusing to attend substance abuse counseling and not completing public service employment.
