Report: Firefighters find weed plants at scene of fire

Posted: Updated:

A fire at a home in Spartanburg led to responders finding what they believed to be marijuana plants, according to an incident report from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

On Dec. 11, a North Spartanburg firefighter who responded to the blaze on Edna Drive told deputies he spotted the plants in a backroom of the home, along with what he believed to be grow lights, the report said.

According to the report, firefighters secured the house and narcotics officers were called. While waiting for the officers to arrive, the report said, a resident of the house crossed the fire line and went back into the house.

When the man was taken out of the house, deputies said they saw the plants had been broken off.

No charges have been filed at this time.
