GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A female deputy was taken to the hospital on Thursday night after she was pinned between a vehicle and a fence, according to Lt. Tim Ridgeway of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

Ridgeway said the deputy was responding to a report of an armed robbery near South Fairfield Road  at Lanford Drive when the victim of the robbery began to run, because he said he had a warrant for his arrest.

A car at the scene began to move and the officer tried to stop the car from the front and ended up being pinned between it and a fence, he said.

Ridgeway said the officer was taken to the hospital with a knee injury.

Ridgeway said the victim of the armed robbery was taken into custody on a bench warrant on Thursday night.

Highway patrol is investigating the accident.
