LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -
Lexington County Sheriff's Department fugitive investigators on Thursdayreturned a 41-year-old Georgia man to Lexington County, where investigators served him with an arrest warrant for stalking his ex-girlfriend.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Donald Kenneth Adams, Jr., 41, of Cartersville, Ga., is accused of sending a total of 30 emails and cellular telephone text messages to his former girlfriend at her home near Lexington over a four-day period in October.
In the emails and text messages, Adams threatened to physically harm the woman and her current boyfriend, Metts said.
Fugitive investigators transported Adams from the Bartow County Jail in Cartersville, Ga., to the Lexington County Detention Center, where Adams was booked Thursday afternoon.
An arrest warrant alleges that Adams sent the emails and text messages to the 31-year-old woman from October 10 through October 14 after she told Adams to stop contacting her, Metts said.
The warrant further alleges that the emails and text messages caused the former girlfriend to fear for her life because of threats that Adams made in the emails and text messages.
Adams and his former girlfriend maintained a long-distance, romantic relationship for about two years after Adams moved from South Carolina to Georgia, Metts said. The former girlfriend ended her relationship with Adams on October 2 because she found it difficult to maintain a long-distance, romantic relationship, according to the sheriff.
Adams began communicating threats to his former girlfriend after he saw on her Facebook page that she was romantically involved with another man, Metts said.
Adams was being held on Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
