GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged after he used stolen credit cards to purchase items and then had them shipped to his storage unit, according to the sheriff's office.

In October, investigators got a report that stolen items were being shipped to a storage facility on Rocky Creek Road in Greenville County and they learned it was leased by Michael Edward Barton, 51, the sheriff's office said in a news release on Friday.

Investigators found that the items shipped to the storage facility were purchased with stolen credit cards and debit cards.

Barton was arrested and has been charged with three counts of identity fraud, three counts of financial transaction card fraud, one count of receiving stolen goods, one count of computer crime, and one count of bank fraud, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said they did not know at this time how Barton obtained the credit card numbers.

Barton is being held on $65,000 bond.

Anyone with information about the incident or thinks that they may have been victimized by Barton is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
