A Spartanburg man has been charged with 31 counts of vandalism in connection with graffiti around the city, the Spartanburg Police Department announced on Monday.
Police said they got a call on Monday morning of a suspicious person behind the Walmart on Dorman Center Drive and the victim fled on foot after being approached by a security guard. The man was apprehended a short time later in the Camelot subdivision, according to police.
Patrick Ryan Baird, 29, admitted to spray-painting pictures of animals, symbols and the word "ish" at other locations over the past several months, according to police.
Police said 31 warrants were signed on Baird in connection with 12 different graffiti incidents throughout the west side of the city. They said each of the 31 warrants were for vandalism/illegal graffiti vandalism.
FOX Carolina was in court on Monday night for Baird's bond hearing. He was given a $3,100 cash or surety bond.
