ATLANTA (FOX Carolina) -

The University of South Carolina student and JL Mann grad who was paralyzed in a shooting in Columbia's Five Points is heading home for Christmas.

Martha Childress had been at the Shepherd Center, a rehabilitation center in Atlanta, for about two months after she was nearly killed by a stray bullet in the Five Points area of Columbia near the University of South Carolina.

Childress' family confirmed on Wednesday, exactly one week before Christmas, that she is heading back to her home in Simpsonville.

In a recent interview, Childress told FOX Carolina anchor Diana Watson, "It's all I wanted to do is go home with my family and friends for Christmas," she said. "I'm really happy."
