CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials said warrants are out for a Belton man after they called off the search for a burglary suspect in Pickens County on Wednesday evening.

Capt. Chad Brooks of the Pickens County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the burglary and spotted the suspect's car in Central and tried to pull him over, but he fled into Clemson.

Officers said they lost sight of the suspect but found his car abandoned by Ashley Dearing Park in Clemson.

FOX Carolina talked to the victim of the burglary who said he returned home and found a man leaving his house with bags of stuff and a gun, which the owner said was stolen from the house. The victim said as the man was getting into his car he said, 'my family's hungry.'

The victim said he got the tag number of the car the man was driving and called 911.

He said officers called him 20 minutes later to say they had stopped the man's car but he fled on foot carrying a gun.

A canine from Pickens and Clemson wasn't available, so officers called in Anderson County deputies for their canine, officers said.

Brooks said they found the stolen gun in Clemson, but the suspect is not in custody.

On Thursday, deputies said they had three warrants for Christopher Corey Vaughn of Belton for failure to stop fro blue lights, simple larceny and first degree burglary.

No injuries were reported in the burglary, according to Brooks.
