BREVARD, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Transylvania County deputies said a man is wanted after he failed to appear in court on several charges, including misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and felony hit-and-run.

Deputies said they are looking for Scott McCombs on the charges. They said he is also wanted for a violation of a domestic violence protective order.

The crash happened in December of 2012, and killed 58-year-old Jerry Morgan of Brevard. Morgan's family says they are still trying to heal from his death, but don't feel ready to move on until there is a trial.

"I wouldn't be bothered as bad if McCombs hadn't left him laid there like a dog on the side of the road," said Gabriele Morgan, the victim's son.

Gabriele Morgan says he's tried to reach out to the suspect in the past and offer forgiveness.

McCombs is described as being 5 feet and 1 inch tall, and weighs 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, deputies said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of McCombs is asked to notify the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office at 828-884-3168 or your local law enforcement agency.
