6 killed on SC roadways during holiday

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Six people were killed on South Carolina roadways between Christmas Eve and Sunday, Dec. 29, the South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced. 

The majority of the fatalities were between Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 when four people died, SCDPS said on their website. They said the details of the accidents are still under investigation at this time. 

For the year of 2013, the amount of fatalities has decreased on South Carolina roads since 2012, SCDPS reports. According to a release, 734 people died on South Carolina highways in 2013, compared to 860 the previous year. 

 

As of midnight Dec 29, 13 bicyclists, 118 motorcycle riders and 89 pedestrians died on South Carolina roads.

According to SCDPS, of the 486 of the fatalities of vehicle occupants in 2013, 269 were not wearing their seat belts.
